Event Details

In this course improvisers delve into character and well-grounded scenes focusing on the situation being funny and not the improviser shelling out one liners and jokes. You’ll learn to trust the character and work that you’re doing is funny and not relying on punchlines and call outs.

Nick Armstrong

is an Actor, Writer and Director living in Los Angeles, CA. As an Actor Nick has found success on stage as well as television making regular appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and also making appearances on the Emmy-Award winning show The Office and NBC’s Parks and Recreation. Onstage Nick performs and teaches regularly at iO West. Phoenix Improv Festival



Since 2002, PIF has focused on bringing together both local and national improv communities on one stage in Phoenix, Arizona. PIF showcases improvisational comedy troupes from the best improv theatres in Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Chicago, Austin and our very own talent from here in Phoenix. The Phoenix Improv Festival is a two day event, packed with shows, workshops and fun for audience and performers alike. Even if you've never seen improv, this is a great place to try it out!

The Phoenix Improv Festival is produced by The Torch Theatre through CareFree Write Productions (CFWP), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. CFWP serves as a support network for developing local artists, an educational resource for the community, and an integral part of Phoenix’s growing cultural movement. The Festival is supported in part by the Arizona Commission on the Arts with funding from The State of Arizona and the National Endowment for the Arts.
